Thanks to funding through the City of Beaumont’s Arts Grant, the Artists’ Association of Beaumont (AAB) has been able to further develop and expand our Art Connects programming. The Art Connects program enables the AAB to offer art meetups and workshops to the Beaumont community at affordable prices. There has been a whirlwind of art activities being offered!! After an art-filled summer of Plein-air painting sessions (painting outdoors) and a fall urban sketching workshop, we have begun introducing indoor workshops which have also become very popular! Acrylic Pour workshop with Rosemary Dumont, Needle-felted Landscape with Elaine Grandon and, Making Watercolour Art Cards with Laurel Aitken are all
sold out, and our classes are already close to full for November/December with Round 2 of our Needle-felt Landscape w Elaine, and Cookie Decorating Art Workshop with Deb Wharry. Register for these workshops by emailing artistsassociationofbeaumont@gmail.com to first check for availability and further instructions for payment and event details. Any questions about the program? Contact Betty Schriver, the coordinator at the same email address.
We have now designated Wednesday nights for our regular meetup sessions, from 7-9 pm at the Event Rm at Beaumont Sports and Recreation Centre. (We have a couple exceptions, Nov 20th – Meetup at 10 am – 12 pm and Dec 11th at Jef’s Cafe for a holiday meet-up at 7-9 pm) This is where artists of all levels and mediums come together to enjoy the evening, creating art in whatever medium they wish. Some sketch, paint, needle-felt, embroidery, etc.. It’s a friendly get-together where we share information, network, and spend time completing projects or
starting new ones! This casual way of learning from each other and sharing information is a great way to find out about art opportunities and also learn more about art techniques, theories, and processes. Come give it a try, bring your art supplies, it’s free and you do not need to be a member to participate!
You can stay up to date on all our workshops and activities by going to our website:
artinbeaumont.com and checking our calendar on our home page or on our social media pages.
We are currently doing a fundraiser with Beaumont Music Festival’s giving back program where they give us a share of the profits of passes sold for a brief period before Christmas. We are a non-profit organization that relies heavily on volunteers, help from the grant funding, and our own fundraising to continue our programming. If you typically love to go to this wonderful event or have never been and would like to experience it in 2025, we are selling the passes from Nov 2nd to Dec 15th at an early bird price of $128 (taxes all in). It would make a great experience gift for Christmas for family or friends! A great way for all to win! More details on our website or email us for payment details.
With winter approaching, bring a little art into your life. Art is not just a hobby for most of us, it’s a way of connecting, a way to stay present, and a way to become part of a community. Take a chance at trying something new. It could bring colour to your world.
